Surah-Maun

Surah Al-Ma’un, also known as Surah Maun, is the 107th chapter of the Quran, consisting of only seven verses. Despite its brevity, this surah carries profound messages about the essence of true faith and the importance of social responsibility.

Surah Maun begins with a powerful rhetorical question, “Have you seen the one who denies the Day of Recompense?” This question serves as a reminder that there will come a time when everyone will be held accountable for their actions. It emphasizes the significance of faith in the Hereafter, a central belief in Islam.

The following verse highlights the attitude of those who deny the Day of Recompense. It describes them as neglectful towards their prayers, an act that symbolizes the neglect of their entire religious obligations. This verse teaches us that faith is not limited to mere verbal expressions but requires sincere actions.

In the third verse, Allah describes the characteristics of those who undermine the rights of others. They repel the orphans and show no compassion towards them. This verse condemns their behavior and emphasizes the importance of caring for and supporting the less fortunate members of society.

The subsequent verse reveals the stinginess and reluctance of those who are preoccupied with their wealth. They discourage acts of kindness and refuse to assist others in need. This verse reminds us that true faith encompasses selflessness and a willingness to share our blessings with others.

In verse five, Allah exposes the hypocrisy of these individuals. While they pray to be seen by others, their hearts are devoid of any true devotion. This verse cautions against performing religious acts for the sake of showing off and highlights the significance of sincerity in worship.

The sixth verse provides a contrasting example, shedding light on the qualities of the righteous believers. They are those who are consistent in their prayers, fulfilling their obligations to Allah. This verse underscores the importance of maintaining a strong connection with our Creator through regular worship.
