Surah-Qadr

Surah Qadr, also known as Surah Al-Qadr, is the 97th chapter of the Holy Quran. It is a short surah that holds great significance for Muslims around the world. In just five short verses, Surah Qadr encapsulates the profound meaning and blessings of the Night of Power, or Laylat al-Qadr.

Laylat al-Qadr is an extraordinary night that falls in the last ten nights of the holy month of Ramadan. It is a night of immense spiritual value, in which the first verses of the Quran were revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This night is considered to be better than a thousand months, and any worship or good deeds performed during this night are multiplied in reward.

The surah begins by declaring that indeed, We (Allah) have sent down the Quran in the Night of Power. It emphasizes the divine origin of the Quran, highlighting that it was revealed by Allah Himself, the Creator of the heavens and the earth. This serves as a reminder of the miraculous nature of the Quran and its profound impact on humanity.

The surah then states that the Night of Power is better than a thousand months. This statement emphasizes the immense value and significance of this night. It signifies that even though the Night of Power lasts only a few hours, the rewards and blessings one can attain in that short span of time surpass the blessings of worship performed over an entire lifetime.

Furthermore, Surah Qadr states that during this night, the angels descend with the decree of Allah. The angels descend upon the earth to carry out various tasks assigned to them by Allah. They bring with them peace and blessings, showering the believers with divine mercy and protection. This highlights the spiritual atmosphere and the presence of the angels during this blessed night.

The surah also mentions that this night is a source of peace until the break of dawn. It is a time of tranquility and serenity, wherein believers can seek nearness to Allah, engage in prayer, recitation of the Quran, and other acts of worship. It is an opportunity for believers to reflect, repent, and seek forgiveness from their Lord.

Surah Qadr concludes by urging believers to seek this night and its blessings. It encourages them to actively engage in worship and devotion during the last ten nights of Ramadan, in hopes of attaining the blessings and rewards associated with Laylat al-Qadr. Muslims are advised to observe voluntary prayers, recite the Quran, engage in supplication, and strive to purify their hearts and souls.
